ABOUT ME
Who Am I.
I am teacher, artist, and arts educator with 8+ years of experience in elementary and art education at top independent schools across Los Angeles. Creating art can be challenging, but my aim is to foster an environment that embraces challenges, celebrates failures and encourages confidence! I want my students to walk away from my class feeling empowered as artists, knowing that no challenge is too difficult to overcome. I specialize in painting, watercolor and drawing along with child-driven experimental process art.
Artist Statement.
I am a self-taught artist and find the experimental process fundamental to my practice. With a subtle, minimalistic approach, I investigate the dynamics of landscape and the natural world, including the manipulation of its effects and the limits of spectacle based on our assumptions of what it means to us. My paintings establish a link between the landscape’s reality and that imagined by its viewer. Therefore, rather than presenting a factual reality, an imaginative world is created to conjure the realms of the viewer’s imagination. Moments are depicted to emphasize aesthetics and push the viewer to find poetic meaning in everyday life.
